Of course QV means ‘Quadrifoglio Verde’ or ‘Cloverleaf’ and is the historic symbol of sporty and racing Alfa Romeos dating back to the 1930s when one of the team drivers was a certain Mr Enzo Ferrari who went on to build a few cars himself!
The QV versions of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and MiTo will be launched in Australia later this year.
Headline news is the Giulietta will share a new drivetrain with Alfa’s upcoming 4C sports car – the 180kW/340Nm 1750 turbocharged four-cylinder driving through a six-speed TCT transmission. Alfa says zero to 100km/h takes just 6.6 seconds – identical to the latest Volkswagen Golf GTI.
And the MiTo scores a new 126kW/250Nm turbocharged 1.4-litre MultiAir engine driving through another Alfa TCT transmission.
Other changes for the Giulietta include a carbon fibre front spoiler, side skirts, door mirrors and rear spoiler plus new alloy wheels with a burnished anthracite finish. In Europe, the new models will be introduced with a Matte Magnesio Grey limited edition body colour.
Inside are new leather and anthracite seats with built-in headrests, new instruments and steering wheels.
Alfa Romeo Australia will announce local details and pricing closer to launch.
