Mercedes-Benz starts the new year strongly with the launch of the gorgeous soft-top E-Class Cabriolet.

Typically, the open E-Class Cabriolet comes loaded with high-tech features to make open top motoring comfortable including AIRCAP, an automatic push-button wind-stopper to reduce turbulence for all four occupants. 'Benz has also improved its AIRSCARF system that blows warm air onto the necks of front seat occupants - it can now be adjusted in a range of 36 degrees to better direct the warm air.

The soft top opens and closes in 40 seconds and can be operated at speeds up to 40 km/h. A clever boot system allows the trunk capacity to max-out at 390 litres when the roof is remaining closed.

An acoustic design, the soft top comes with high quality insulation to ensure the interior remains exceptionally quiet when it is closed. Mercedes says with roof closed and traveling at over 200km/h, E-Class Cabriolet passengers will be able to have normal telephone conversations with minimal intrusion of noise from the passing wind or traffic.

Rollover protection is provided by headbags and automatic roll bars mounted behind the rear seats. A-Pillars have also been beefed-up.

The E-Class Cabriolet will be available with a choice of seven engines - three diesel and four petrol, headed by the E500 V8.
