Mercedes-Benz and its performance partner AMG never let a major motor show pass without delivering a knock-out punch to rivals and in Detroit it came in the form of the stunning AMG GLE 63 Coupe.
The four-door coupe/SUV crossover’s range-topping S model boasts the astonishingly good 437kW/760Nm AMG 5.5-litre biturbo V8 engine – and that promises something special without knowing anything more!
And then we hear about the five-mode drive system for the Speedshift Plus 7G Tronic transmission – ‘Slippery’, ‘Individual’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport Plus’ – which also adjusts throttle and suspension settings (typical AMG genius at work).
Not to mention the rear-biased 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system (40:60 front-rear normally) and AMG Ride Control plus AIRMATIC adjustable suspension with ‘Active Curve System’.
Styling sees the AMG GLE 63 Coupe debut the first SUV-style adaption of AMG’s hallmark ‘A-wing’ front end with three cool air ducts. Black aero flics add to the visual allure.
At the side are flared wheelarches to accommodate the massive21-inch or 22-inch alloy wheels.
Inside is the usual AMG sporty elegance including an eight-speaker ‘Audio 20’ CD system.
Can’t wait to drive this one!
