Mercedes-Benz will premiere the final edition of the SLS AMG as well as the new S 65 AMG simultaneously this week at the motor shows in Tokyo and Los Angeles.
The S 65 AMG is a stunner with its bi-turbo V12 delivering 463kW/1000Nm and zero to 100km/h in the supercar time of 4.3 seconds (this for a four-door luxury sedan!). But with fuel consumption cut by 2.4l/100kms compared to its predecessor (now at 11.9l/100kms), the S 65 AMG is actually the world’s most fuel-efficient V12 sedan.
For the first time, the S 63 AMG features a lithium-ion battery and buyers can opt for ceramic brakes.
On the outside, the glamour is ramped-up with aero highlights, including front ‘flics’ in chrome while inside is a head-up display.
The 435kW, 6.3-litre V8-powered SLS AMG Final Edition, as the name reflects, is an impressive end to the SLS era. Only 350 of the final edition gullwing supercar are slated for production.
