Looks like Mercedes-Benz is readying the estate version of their W213 E-Class for its world debut that’s slated for June 6th. The sketch you’re seeing above was recently put up on their official Facebook page and we’re positive it will be the first of at least a few other teasers at the date grows closer.
As the world has already seen a lot of detail surrounding the new E-Class sedan, the estate version should fall too far from the tree. But Mercedes-Benz could be using the occasion to unveil come new technology features either within the cabin or with regards to the powertrain.
The sketch came attached with the caption ‘Intelligent (E)state-of-the-art’, making us wonder what smart features Merc has packed this time around. Of course, the stand-out differentiator is the E-Class estate’s longer roof, tapering off like the CLA Estate – a design cue that’s proliferating across the marque’s vehicles – and there should be some subtle tweaks to the headlamp design to accommodate the rear hatch.
Looking at the sketch a little longer, this writer gets a uniquely Maybach-like impression from the W213 E-Class Estate, but that could just be down to the blue colour fading towards the top of the drawing, giving off an illusory two tone paint split.
Mercedes-Benz is also quite likely to introduce this estate with a choice of rear-wheel drive or 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Perhaps even a jacked-up crossover version is also on the books, if some spy shots are to be accurate.
