One of the most anticipated launches of 2010 is a step closer after Mercedes Benz today announced the pricing of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “Gullwing”.

As expected the high-performance “Gullwing' coupé doesn’t come cheap – with a manufacturer’s list price of $464,000 plus dealer delivery and on road costs. This price tag hasn’t stopped the first consignment “Gullwings” coupes from nearly all being sold.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG dazzles with its purist design, intelligent lightweight construction and superior handling dynamics, and has already caused a sensation in the super sports car segment.

With a technology package to rival the worlds bests the SLS is an outstanding proposition: aluminium spaceframe body with gullwing doors, AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid-engine developing 420 kW peak output, 650 Nm of torque and dry sump lubrication, seven-speed double-declutch transmission in a transaxle configuration, sports suspension with aluminium double wishbones and a kerb weight of 1620 kilograms based on the DIN standard. This superlative combination guarantees driving dynamics of the highest order.
The gullwing model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and has an electronically limited top speed of 317 km/h. A fuel consumption of 13.3 litres per 100 kilometres (combined cycle, according to ADR 81/02) makes it one of the best in its competitive segment.

It won’t be too long until the full allotment of “Gullwing” coupes will be sold out in Australia. CarShowroom is looking forward to getting behind the wheel and giving you the full low down,  when the car is launched in August 2010.
