Here’s one for Prime Ministers and Heads Of State – the special protection Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard.
Providing all-round protection, including the window glass, to the international VR9 standard, the S 600 Guard is the latest in a long line of special protection vehicles from the world’s premier automotive company – you can currently get ‘Guard’ versions of the S, E, M and G-Class models.
Developed from the ground up with protective components and special steel, the V12-powered Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard provides comprehensive ballistic and explosive protection. Windows are coated with polycarbonate for splinter protection and are thicker.
Inside are four individual seats or you can opt for a bench rear. There’s also a chauffeur package and a rear seat telephone handset and touchscreen.
Power comes from Mercedes-Benz’ 395kW/830Nm V12 petrol engine – chosen as it can provide unmatched rapid acceleration away from danger zones.
There’s also larger brakes and special Michelin PAX run-flat tyres so the Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard can operate as normal on four flat tyres for up to 15kms.
