As the flagship model from Mercedes-Benz, one expects the S 600 to lead the world and it does – for starters those riding in the rear (naturally many are chauffeur-driven) enjoy the world’s best levels of quietness.
And of course from front-to-rear the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 is a technological marvel, the very best of current automotive technology.
Let’s start with the engine – that would be the marvelous 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 delivering 390kW/830Nm and zero to 100km/h in 5.0 seconds.
That’s remarkable performance for a limousine measuring 5453mm in length (20cm longer than the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class). With a wheelbase of 3365mm, the S 600 offers sumptuous leg and shoulder room without compromising those seated up-front.
Exterior styling shows a direct relationship to the S-Class but the extended wheelbase and distinctive rear three-quarters distinguish the unique Maybach style. An aerodynamic drag Cd of just 0.26 shows how clever the folk in the Mercedes-Benz design department really are.
Of course, inside the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 is simply astonishing – available only in the ‘Exclusive’ line, it comes with handcrafted fine wood trim, nappa leather everywhere and available individual multi-contour rear seats with an energizing massage function.
And for sound, there’s a 24-speaker, 24-amplifier Burmester system with tweeters in all four doors which automatically rotate when activated to provide the best sound quality.
Naturally the Mercedes Maybach S 600 gets the full suite of safety and driver aids including the new seat cushion airbags in the rear and seat belt airbags.
You’ll need $449,000 for the Mercedes Maybach S 600 in Australia with the first arrivals scheduled for late this year.
