2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe “Night Edition”

If you’re the sort that thinks the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe to be too lighthearted and carefree for your tastes and pine for something more dark and brooding, the German automaker has just the thing.

Called the Night Edition, you can naturally expect lots of dark tones and stealth touches that would make Batman take a second look. It’s expected to go on sale in Europe come April 2017 but will make its official debut at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show in January.

It can be specified to be ordered with the S 400 4Matic, S 500, and S 500 4Matic. The changes are purely cosmetic over the standard C217 S-Class Coupe and therefore the engines (a 270kW 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 in the S400 and a 335kW 4.7-litre V8 in the S500, with or without the all-wheel drive system) remain untouched.

It features a high-gloss black radiator grille and 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in high-sheen black to complement the Selenite grey magno paint. It’s exterior mirror housings and side panel inserts are also finished in high-gloss black.

The interior features engraved "Night Edition" wording on the insert of the nappa leather AMG sports steering wheel. Customers can choose from upholstery in leather, nappa leather or AMG nappa leather in black/black; crystal grey/black; saddle brown/black; or Bengal red/black; while a high-gloss black poplar wood trim comes as standard.
