Estate versions of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be launched in Europe in November.

With the beautiful E-Class sedan as a starting point, it's no surprise the Estate is gloriously styled.

The black B and C-pillars give the impression of a long-flowing side glass panel and the upward slope of the lower door sills blends to a pronounced curve above the rear wheels.

At the rear, the large tailgate window and LED tail lamps are a modern interpretation of the classic Mercedes-Benz estates.

Predictably, safety features are impressive with nine airbags as standard and some innovative driver assistance systems.

Practicality is also strong with an automatic opening tailgate and the innovative 'Quickfold' system which enables the rear seat back to be folded from the cargo compartment - without the need to adjust the rear head restraints or seat cushions. Cargo volume is up to 1,950 litres.

Self-leveling rear suspension keeps the E-Class Estate flat even when fully loaded.

Although the E-Class Estate will be offered with a choice of nine engines in Europe, expect the local versions to mirror their sedan brothers with a choice of excellent petrol and diesel powerplants.
