Mercedes-Benz’ first plug-in hybrid – the GLE 500e SUV is set for debut at the New York Auto Show in a few days.
Power comes from Benz’ 245kW/480Nm twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine pared with a 85kW electric motor.
Combined that’s 325kW/650Nm.
Drive is via Mercedes’ 7G tronic automatic transmission.
But of course the big news is the GKE 500’s ability to run on zero emissions pure electric power.
Expect the Mercedes-Benz GLE 500e as well as the S 500e and C 350e sedans in Australia within the next 12 months.
