Mercedes-Benz chose Auto Shanghai to unveil the GLC Coupe.
Although shown as a concept you can bet this latest stunner from ‘Benz isn’t far away from production.
While the GLC Coupe shows the traditional Mercedes-Benz traditions, this is said to be the basis of coming SUV generations with a more rugged definition highlighted by the raised ride height, side steps, and massive 21-inch alloy wheels.
The twin-blade radiator grille, powerdome bonnet, side air intakes and four exhaust pipes add extra performance muscle to the overall look – “Born to race on every ground” says Mercedes-Benz.
At the front are some edgy LED headlights and the Mercedes-Benz grille is finished in ‘silver shadow’.
The side profile is a complex creation with lots of curves and bulges to create shadow effects but very clean with integrated roof rails and recessed door handles.
Of course this is all contained in a compact dimension – just 4.73-metres in length and with a wheelbase of 2.83-metres.
Power comes from AMG’s 270kW/520Nm twin-turbocharged V6 driving through a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive.
Significantly the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe shown in Shanghai looks virtually ready for production.
