High performance tuning specialist AMG has turned its attention to Mercedes Benz’ classic G-Class off-roader to produce the G 55 AMG.
It will be joined locally by the G 350 BlueTEC to bring the G-Class back to the local Mercedes-Benz line-up after an absence of 20 years. The G 350 BlueTEC is priced at $159,900 while its outrageous AMG-fettled sibling carries a $214,900 sticker.
At the Sydney Show the behemoth G 55 AMG got plenty of attention. With its 373kW/700Nm, 5.5-litre V8 engine, the G 55 AMG covers zero to 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
Inside the usual avalanche of timber finishes and rich leather clearly show this is an AMG vehicle.
