The German giant says we can expect fuel consumption to reduce by up to 31 per cent thanks to improvements such as an enhanced 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and ECO start/stop.
Externally, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is highlighted by a new front bumper with distinct central V-shape and side air inlets plus a new aluminium bonnet and new clear-glass headlights. A the rear are new bumpers and lights.
Inside is a new-design dashboard with optional high-resolution colour display for the instruments.
Some 10 new driving assistance systems will be available in the new C-Class:
• Adaptive Highbeam Assist
• Active Lane Keeping Assist
• Active Blind Spot Assist
• ATTENTION ASSIST
• DISTRONIC PLUS
• Speed Limit Assist
• Parking Guidance including PARKTRONIC
• PRE-SAFE Brake
• Lane Keeping Assist
• Blind Spot Assist
In fact ‘Benz says the new C-Class runs a total of more than 2,000 new components.
Locally, Mercedes-Benz will be sticking with two model grades for the new C-Class – ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE. The company says the two lines will be more readily distinguishable and luxury features enhanced – even the entry-level scores a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The current generation C-Class is a truly elegant design – a favourite with the Car Showroom team - and since the model range first appeared back in 1982 (called the 190) more than 8.5 million have been sold worldwide.
