Mercedes-Benz AMG Sales Top 1,000 In 2010

Australia’s rank as one of the biggest market for Mercedes-Benz’ performance car subsidiary, AMG, is set to continue following the sale of vehicle number 1,000 ‘Downunder’ in 2010.

“We regard Australia as one of the most important and loyal AMG markets in the world and we congratulate the more than one thousand new AMG owners downunder for helping us achieve this milestone,” enthused Mario Spitzer, AMG’s Director of Branding and Marketing based in Affalterbach, Germany.

In fact the 1000th Australian AMG sale for this year was unique – it was the confronting ‘Designo Magno Night Black’ SLS AMG supercar displayed at the Australian International Motor Show. AMG’s German Head Office has confirmed there will never be a second SLS AMG painted in this colour scheme, so the Sydney-resident buyer of the 2010 Motor Show display car has a genuine one-off SLS.

The other unique AMG offering from the Sydney show – the ‘JAFFA’ orange C 63 AMG - has a long line of potential buyers, but that vehicle is scheduled for work at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix and won’t be offered for sale until the Formula One race is over. The 500th C63 AMG sold so far this year was delivered to its Queensland owner early in December.
