Some are buying two, because why not.

McLaren 720S Is Sold-Out ‘Till 2018

We know that the McLaren 720S supercar is great. It looks fantastic, drives brilliantly, and it’s bringing great success for the brand. Almost too much success it seems, as McLaren is now reporting that its strong customer base is seeing waiting times being pushed further and further back.

McLaren 720S Is Sold-Out ‘Till 2018

Representing a new generation of cars, the 720S previews the direction the brand is taking into the future, in terms of style, engineering, and performance. At its heart sits a brand-new 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 (an all-round upgraded version of the familiar 3.8-litre we’re used to seeing), pushing out 530kW and 770Nm in standard guise, able to launch the 720S to the horizon from rest to 100km/h in just 2.9-seconds, and hitting 200km/h in just 7.8-seconds. It seems that’s not the only thing aimed at the horizon though, with order books filing up faster than McLaren can build them.

The 720S now commands a waiting list well into 2018 according to an Autocar report, with some customers going as far as to order two. One for now, and one for McLaren Special Operations to tool with and deliver later, it seems. ‘Insatiable’ immediately comes to mind when thinking of McLaren’s diehard fans, and we can only guess we’d do the same if we had equally-deep pockets. And at the end of the day, there’ll be two supercars to play with, which is never a bad thing.
