The men from Woking have just floated their latest weapon out to sea and yes, it’s definitely more than sea-worthy. McLaren is some of the finest constructors in the high-octane world of racing and this new 570S GT4 is just the latest iteration of that notion. The 2020 GT4 car (here below pictured) has been enhanced for the 2020 season but remains largely unchanged and is priced from £180,000 (AU$353k).

The company says the 570S GT4 will be entering its fourth season with customer racing teams. Those outfits took home a 1-2 finish to close out the 2019 season at the Gulf 12 Hour race at the Yas Marina Circuit. The cars get better with every passing season as the engineers are able to take the incoming data and create solutions for their customers.

For example, the 2020 GT4 cars will be kitted out with a new optional brake kit with a greater focus on longer endurance events. The development of this kit started last season and now, the new option is homologated for racing from March 2020 and is available as a factory-fit option or can be ordered as a retro-fitted item. The system includes bespoke suspension uprights and a new 6-piston front caliper design combined with uprated brake discs and pads, for better braking and reduced fade.

While the 570S GT4 has been around for a few seasons now and McLaren reports 2019 as its most successful season yet, as demonstrated by Balfe Motorsport’s podium finish in Abu Dhabi. Since the 2017 season, McLaren has clocked hundreds of hours on track including 140 podiums by customer racing teams – making it the most successful McLaren-badged GT car.

Power still comes from the 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 M838TE powerplant – taken from the 570S Coupe in the Sports Series – which produces 419kW and 600Nm of torque. All that grunt is delivered to the rear wheels via a 7-speed SSG or seamless shift gearbox.

As mentioned the McLaren 570S GT4 will cost customer racers £180,000 or $352,394 Australian dollars. The GT4 race car can be purchased from one of eleven official motorsport retailers worldwide.
