Lotus Unveils V8 Hybrid Elite In Paris

Specialist British sports car manufacturer Lotus used the Paris Motor Show to unveil the all-new Elite – the first of the new generation of Lotus vehicles.

The Elite is a classic Lotus name, however the stylish new model is bristling with remarkable new technology including a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine with a hybrid technology gearbox featuring integrated electric motors and – straight from Formula One - KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) to boost performance on demand.

With 456kW and 720Nm on tap, performance is breathtaking – zero to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 315km/h.

The new Lotus Elite is a four-seat GT with the engine front-mounted and there is a version featuring a retractable hardtop roof. Typically Lotus, performance is enhanced by its light weight – the new Elite tips the scales at only 1650kgs.

Full-scale production of the new Lotus Elite does not commence until 2014.
