Lexus Unveils LFA-based Art Car For F Division Anniversary

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their dedicated performance arm, Lexus has decided to bring a specially prepared ‘Art Car’ to be on display at the 24 Hours of Spa this weekend, where the company’s RC F GT3 coupe will be competing in its debut endurance race.

The exhibition car is, as you can see, an LFA supercar, the pride of the company’s F division, and has had its exterior painted by Portuguese artist Pedro Henriques. The black is naturally a nice contrast to the car’s signature white finish, though admittedly we’re having some trouble interpreting what these seemingly random streaks signify and what finely honed skill it took to execute.

But hey, who are we to judge art.

According to Lexus, the idea of the flowing lines were to resemble organic patterns that “expresses a sense of movement and evolution.” And has the artist himself describes: “My inspiration was the idea of fluidity that’s present in contemporary life, where things are in constant movement and it is hard to freeze anything,”

“The lines follow this sense of going everywhere and never stopping: a progressive life. I wanted to reach an organic feeling by using hand-made material and liquid lines in the elements spread throughout the car. By doing this I hope to express a feeling of the car becoming a less defined shape, in constant mutation in its movement,” he adds.

Judging by its front winglets, gunmetal forged lightweight wheels, and fixed rear spoiler, this particular example of the Lexus LFA is the even faster and more exclusive Nurburgring Edition.

Over the standard car, this competition-focused variant was limited to a 50 examples, comprising 10 percent of the LFA’s total cap of 500 units. Among other modifications done in the interest of reducing weight, its 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V10 produced 7kW more power and featured a faster version of the 6-speed single-clutch electrohydraulic transmission.
