Lexus has revealed these images of the all-new IS model which will make its global debut at next week’s Detroit Auto Show.
As you can see, the new Lexus IS looks pin-sharp with the latest Lexus spindle grille design, L-shaped DRLs which are separate from the headlights (a first for Lexus), strong full-length character lines and bulging wheel-arches.
F SPORT models will enjoy stronger differentiation thanks to exclusive colours - including ‘White Nova’, developed for the LFA - and a unique front grille/bumper (the grille has a lower waistline to maximize air intake.
Inside is a sportier layout with ramped-up luxury and some cues from the Lexus LFA supercar in the driver-focused cockpit. Lexus has addressed the one shortcoming of the current IS – its snug interior – with the all-new model’s wider track and longer wheelbase affording extra dimensions (rear seat knee-room said to be best-in-class) and the rear seat will split-fold 60:40 for load-carrying versatility.
On then centre console the all-new Lexus IS features electrostatic switches for one-touch control of the air-conditioning.
F SPORT models gain a unique front seat design, a steering wheel styled like the LFA and drivers’ meter with a moving centre ring taken directly from the Lexus supercar.
The all-new Lexus IS range will include both IS250 and IS350 variants and both will offer F Sport versions.
