Lexus has confirmed the good-looking all-new GS range, to launch in Australia within months, will include the entry-level GS250 model which debuted at China’s Guangzhou Motor Show.
Lexus says the new GS250 will be powered by a 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine delivering 154kW. Driving through Lexus’ sporty six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters and down-change throttle-blipping, the Lexus GS250 will be no dawdler, covering zero to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds.
Of course the range-topping Lexus GS model will be the GS450h with its 3.5-litre V6 hybrid engine featuring Atkinson cycle, direct and port injection and good for 252kW. Lexus says the new GS450h will provide combined cycle fuel consumption of 6.2l/100kms (20 per cent more fuel efficient than the current model) and will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds.
And new to the GS range will be the GS350 with its 3.5-litre/233kW V6 replacing the current model’s 183kW 3.0-litre V6. Zero to 100km/h comes up in 6.0-seconds but Lexus says we can expect the GS350 to provide better fuel consumption than the outgoing model.
Further good news is the availability of all models in sporty F-Sport guise.
“The new GS range will cater to a wide variety of customers: those looking to enter the luxury sports sedan market with the GS250, all the way to those who don’t wish to sacrifice performance for economy with the GS450h,” revealed Lexus Australia chief Tony Cramb.
