Look for the superb Lexus CT200h Hybrid Hatchback in Australian showrooms early next year.
The advanced-looking hatchback will become the fourth hybrid Lexus model to be sold in Australia. Lexus says the CT200h will be Australia’s only full hybrid luxury hatchback.
Power comes from a 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid drive train.
The CT200h features two drive modes. ‘Normal’ mode for everyday driving delivers maximum efficiency and a smooth, linear throttle response, while the ‘Sport’ mode provides a more responsive throttle and revises the electronic power steering for a more dynamic feel appreciated by performance drivers.
For maximum efficiency, the high-tech, luxury hatchback will provide EV (electric only) motoring and an ‘Eco’ mode (like the hybrid Prius and Camry).
And, like its hybrid stablemates, styling of the CT200h optimizes aerodynamic efficiency with tapered body sides, a lowered roof trailing edge and tight corners to enhance airflow around the wheel arches.
“The traditional definition of luxury vehicles is changing,’ explained Lexus Australia chief executive, Tony Cramb. “Today consumers are looking for efficient vehicles that do not compromise on driving experience and features. When you take into account CT200h’s hybrid drive train and its list of advanced features, it’s clear to see why CT200h will become Australia’s most advanced luxury hatchback.”
