Following the lead of other iconic automotive brands BMW and Porsche, Lexus has revealed a concept bicycle.
Lexus being Lexus, it’s not just another hum-drum pedal-power two-wheeler.
No siree, this Lexus is a hybrid, complete with a lightweight lithium-ion battery, 240W electric motor and – like Lexus automobiles – the choice of ‘Eco’ or ‘Power’ modes. Lexus doesn’t say if the seat is leather and heated, but we wouldn’t be surprised…
It’s an all-wheel-drive (that’s front and rear wheels) with a belt system and electric eight-speed Shimano internal gears (like the range-topping Lexus LS 600hL which features an eight-speed automatic transmission).
There’s even regenerative energy recuperation to provide charge for the battery under braking.
Lexus says the Hybrid Bicycle Concept draws on the company’s L-finesse design language for its futuristic-looking lightweight carbon-fibre frame.
