Miura may also see a return, but not in the near future.
Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali revealed to the Automotive News Europe congress in Barcelona this week, that Sant’Agata will be looking to do battle in the 2+2 sports car segment in the future, but not for some time yet. The four seater sports car is something that Lamborghini is “already thinking about,” though it’s not expected to debut until sometime in the “2025 to 2030 horizon.”
More interestingly, Domenicali let slip that the Miura coupe is something that the company may seek to reintroduce, “but not in the next 5-years.” This makes sense, as the Italian company is now readying its production facilities and workforce to introduce the Urus SUV, which is expected to bring in sales hand-over-fist when it arrives at the end of this year.
The factory in Sant’Agata will be doubled in size by the time the Urus arrives, with the company expecting to sell as many as 4,000 of the high-performance SUVs by 2019. The Urus will herald a new era for the brand, with a twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet (the rest of the range is naturally-aspirated), as well as a plug-in hybrid variant in the works too.
