Kia is reaping the rewards of securing acclaimed designer Peter Schreyer to head its design studios – the boundary-pushing Soul goes on sale in April.
One of Mr Schreyer’s first projects fro Kia, the Soul was shown as concept car only three years ago and has been fast-tracked into production.
It’s a very likeable vehicle which the company says challenges new car buyers to re-think Kia. The Soul joins the Cerato sedan as the first examples of My Schreyer’s work for Kia to be launched – and they’re both outstanding work.
Kia says, with Mr Schreyer driving its styling team, the company is now design-lead – a bold move for the Korean company that on first showing is to be commended.
Kia will not reveal full details about the Soul ahead of its April launch but says there will be petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions and a massive list of 61 options to entice buyers to ‘individualise’ their Soul.
Primarily targeting young buyers, the Soul is all about maximising the practicality of motoring in the urban environment. We look forward to driving the new Soul.
