Kia Motors Australia recently announced the introduction of a new special edition variant to the Sorento range dubbed the Black Edition, offering buyers a more standout SUV with unique blacked bits.
The Korean carmaker intends for it to sit between the range-topping GT-Line and SLi variants. The new Black gets a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, grille, roof racks, skid plates and side mirror covers in (what else) gloss black. Even the shiny chrome door garnishes are swapped out for dark chrome ones.
The 7-seater also gets the brand’s “Ice Cube” LED fog lamps (taken from the GT-Line), panoramic sunroof and privacy glass. Inside, like the SLi variant, it gets alloy sports pedals, power-adjustable driver’s seat, 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo and a 7-inch screen displaying infotainment.
The Black Edition is available with a choice of two powertrains, namely the 2.2-litre CRDi four-cylinder turbodiesel producing 147kW with 441Nm or the petrol-fed 3.5-litre Lambda V6 with 206kW and 336Nm. However, while the former comes with all-wheel drive the latter, is front-driven only. The pair are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The newest addition to the Sorento range is available in Clear White, Silky Silver, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl.
Along with the Black Edition’s announcement, the brand outed the Stinger Carbon Edition ($67,990 drive-away) which is based on the flagship GT variant and festooned with carbon fibre bits.
- Kia Sorento Black Edition 3.5 V6 - $48,990 (drive-away)
- Kia Sorento Black Edition 2.2 CRDi - $52,490 (drive-away)
