The Jeep Wrangler range has been upgraded for 2009 to offer even better value for money and wider range of choices for customers focused on customising this ultimate off-road vehicle. The Off-road Group of options enables those with smaller budgets to include some of the Rubicon's radical off-road features into their Wrangler Sport. Previously priced at $3000, it is now offered at just $1500. This package combines an electronically controlled rear axle differential lock, 3.7 final drive on both automatic and manual variants and Jeep's innovative electronic front sway bar disconnect feature which offers significantly greater wheel travel.

Numerous other tailored options including a classically styled Mopar nudge bar are available, making it easy to create a unique Jeep Wrangler which exploits the marque's proud off-road heritage to the max.

Seventeen-inch alloys are standard across the Wrangler range and tyre pressures are constantly monitored.

The 2.8-litre CRD engine now delivers 460 Nm of torque when coupled to the automatic transmission, compared with an unchanged 410 Nm for manual diesel models. Sport automatics have a 3.73 axle ratio instead of the previous 4.10. Unlimited variants score an 85-litre fuel tank (up from 79). Jeep's special Dual Top has now been standardised on all Unlimited variants.

Even the most casual observer will recognise the Wrangler's proud 65-year heritage in its trademark grille with the seven longitudinal slots contrasting with round headlights, removable doors and roof panels, trapezoidal flared wheel arches and fold-down windscreen. Its no-nonsense character is embodied in every styling cue down to the exposed hinges and aggressive alloys.

Whether you choose a Wrangler Sport or Rubicon model, Jeep Wrangler customers will experience extraordinary off-road capability in a true open-air sport-utility vehicle. Jeep Wrangler will indeed go almost anywhere but in doing so it does not wander from the brand's coveted core values of freedom, adventure, mastery and authenticity.

Despite its legendary off-road prowess, the 2009 Jeep Wrangler doesn't sacrifice anything inside the cabin, offering safety and convenience features, interior space, versatility and comfort. New are a drop-in bin and a storage net, while all Hardtop models now get Mopar storage bags for their removable roof panels. Another great addition is the optional multimedia entrtainment system now has a 30GB hard disk drive.

Jeep Wrangler has a devoted following that demands adherence to traditional Jeep styling cues no matter what model year. The brand's core values are shaped into every exterior detail. And yet it still looks contemporary, a product of the twenty-first century with proud memories dating back to the 1940s when 'Jeep' really did mean General Purpose vehicle. Wrangler remains the purest expression of traditional Jeep themes. It still has a full chassis and solid front and rear axles.
