Latest versions of Jeep’s iconic Wrangler lineup are now on-sale locally with much-improved interiors and enhancements for the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine
Pricing starts at $32,000 for the Wrangler Sport.
Inside, luxury gets a boost with upgraded materials and touch surfaces, improved ergonomics (the redesigned center stack controls are easier to reach) and a lockable console. There’s also a leather-wrapped steering wheel with remote controls for the CD/DVD/MP3 audio system.
All models benefit from improved acoustics with significantly reduced road noise transmitted to the cabin.
No changes for the 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine, but Jeep’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel gains 17kW extra to 147kW, while overall fuel economy for the diesel lineup is down to 7.1l/100kms thanks to manual models coming standard with auto start/stop.
Diesels also now drive through a five-speed automatic (still a four-speeder for the petrols).
And of course Rubicon variants come with Jeep’s legendary rock-hopping prowess including remote locking differentials, Dana 44 solid axles and Rock-Trac transfer case for extreme off-road action.
