SsangYong is a big seller in many European markets (for example the Korean brand is very popular in Greece), so it’s no surprise the company has focused on Europe with its crucial all-new mid-size SUV - the Korando C.
In fact the good looks of the SsangYong Korando C are the work of famed Italian automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro (voted by 120 automotive journalists as the ‘Designer Of the Century’).
Under the hood is a European designed 2.0-litre turbocharged engine featuring a new electronically variable geometry turbocharger. SsangYong says maximum power is 129kW at 4,000rpm and peak torque of 360Nm is available from as low as 2,000rpm.
It’s a Euro 5 engine returning average fuel consumption of 6.0l/100kms and exhaust emissions are rated at 157g/km.
SsangYong has stepped-up its safety equipment for the Korando C and it features six airbags, active front head restraints, ESP with active rollover protection, traction control, hill-start assist and ABS anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution plus brake assist.
SsangYong Motors Australia will launch the Korando C locally in January and the company says the all-new addition to its range will be offered in both 2WD and 4WD models.
“From a styling and quality perspective Korando C will redefine the way people view SsangYong as a brand and will attract buyers who may not have considered the brand before,” revealed SsangYong Motors Australia general manager, Jeff Barber.
