Jaguar has announced the stunning F-Type coupe – the hardtop version of the gorgeous convertible which has the whole automotive world talking.
There’s three models – the F-Type Coupe and S Coupe which employ the 280kW/250Nm 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine and the range-topping R Coupe with the marvelous 404kW/680Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8. All drive the rear wheels via an eight-speed transmission.
Unlike the convertible, Jaguar’s F-Type Coupe offers a massive 407-litres of boot space – Jaguar says that’s enough to store two golf bags.
As usual, Jaguar is pushing the limits of technology with the sides of the F-Type coupe made from a single piece aluminium pressing – said to be the most extreme cold-formed aluminium body side in the world. The roof panel is either aluminium or panoramic glass.
With no B-pillars, the Jaguar F-Type coupe runs a high-strength, hydro-formed alloy bean from the front of the A-pillar to the back of the D-pillar, through the door openings and back to the rear three-quarter window.
And, like the convertible model a bootlid rear spoiler is activated at speeds over 80km/h which reduces lift by as much as 120kgs.
Underneath is a unique suspension set-up, electronic active differential and, a Jaguar first, torque-vectoring. The F-Type coupe also benefits from being the most torsionally-rigid Jaguar ever made.
‘R’ and ‘S’ models can be optioned with Carbon Ceramic Matric brakes for improved stopping power and a 21kgs weight saving over the conventional system.
