Jaguar has announced the awesome XFR-S will be on-sale in Australia in the fourth quarter of this year.
Jaguar’s fastest and most powerful sports sedan will be priced at $222,545. The XFR-S joins the already announced XKR-S in Jaguar’s range-topping R-S club and both have top speeds electronically limited to 300km/h.
Power comes from an up-rated version of the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 (one of Car Showroom’s all-time favourite engines) with 404kW at 6500rpm and peak torque of 680Nm from 2500rpm. Drive is to the rear wheels via Jaguar’s Quickshift eight-speed automatic transmission (developed for the F-TYPE sports car).
For zero to 100km/h you can chalk-up 4.6 seconds – that’s just one-tenth slower than BMW’s M5.
Fuel consumption (aided by auto start/stop) scores 11.6l/100kms on the combined cycle.
Looks are stunning and the Jaguar XFR-S boasts lots of carbon fibre and two choices of rear wings. The total package reduces lift by up to 68 per-cent. At the front there’s a deeper front bumper with larger lower air intakes, vertical vanes and a carbon fibre front splitter.
Deeper side sills with aero blades channel air down the sides of the Jaguar XFR-S and there’s a underbody rear diffuser. And the larger rear bumper assembly blends into wider mouldings behind the rear wheels.
Underneath are wider 20-inch alloy wheels with unique Pirelli tyres. Suspension stiffness is boosted by 30 per-cent, spring rates and adaptive damper tune have both been re-done for the XFR-S as have the active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control calibration.
Inside the Jaguar XFR-S ramps up the sports/luxury with an exclusive dark aluminium fascia, carbon-leather for the seat bolsters and arm rests. Contrasting colour stitching and micro-piping match the chosen exterior paint and there’s a superb 825W, 18-speaker Meridian surround sound audio system.
There are five available paint colours – ‘French Racing Blue’, ‘Ulimate Black’, ‘Stratus Grey’, ‘Polaris White’ and ‘Italian Racing Red’.
