A smarter, sharper cat for the new model year.
Jaguar’s F-Type is not a car that needs much changed to its styling, as it still cuts a handsome, recognisable, and jaw-droppingly beautiful shape despite having been around for getting on to 5-years now. While its connection to the iconic E-Type is clear, we love how it embraces the present while nodding respectfully to the past, rather than unashamedly tracing the outline of the car it’s supposed to be glorifying (we’re looking at you, Fiat 500).
For the 2019 model year, the chaps in Gaydon have lavished their performance coupe with a raft of incremental upgrades to keep it fighting fit and fun as ever to drive. They’ve also taken to the badging, renaming all but the F-Type SVR to keep it in line with Jaguar-Land Rover’s new naming scheme.
As such, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol Ingenium model is now badged the F-Type P300, while the two tunes of the V6 are now badged P340 and P380 respectively.
The big changes here are under the skin, with all models enjoying a now standard-fit brake-based torque vectoring system which will help to slingshot the car through corners, while the top-flight P380 takes things a step further with a limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers as standard.
Inside, technology has been upgraded substantially with the inclusion of a 10-inch InControl TouchPro system, which will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto loaded into it shortly after launch. The cabin also enjoys a set of redesigned air vents, and a neat frameless mirror (which Volvo will tell you they’ve had for about a decade).
Those lucky enough to opt for an F-Type will be spoilt by the 18 colour choices, replete with a matte finish that costs an eye-watering $11,000 in the UK. And if you’re fortunate enough to be sizing up an F-Type SVR, you’ll be treated to the wonderful addition of new alloy wheels and an option to delete the spoiler. Jaguar sure know how to spoil their customers.
While deliveries in the UK begin next month, there hasn’t been official word from Jaguar-Land Rover here regarding the arrival of 2019-model year F-Types just yet, so stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you more updates as they come.
