Further reinforcement of the importance of China, the world’s largest new car market, with Infiniti announcing at the Shanghai Motor Show a long-wheelbase version of the Q50 sedan and all-new QX50 crossover will be built locally at the Dongfeng Motor Co. plant in Xiangyang.
China is Infiniti’s second-biggest market and the announcement of Chinese-specific models and the production in Xiangyang comes on top of last years’ relocation of Infiniti’s global headquarters to Hong Kong.
Infiniti had all guns blazing at the Shanghai Show – displaying the Q50 hybrid and announcing the petrol-engined version will go on-sale in spring 2014, wheeling-out the LE Concept full electric sports car and the Infiniti Red Bull world-championship winning F1 car.
Infiniti currently has 60 dealers in China and plans to grow that number to 80 by next year.
