Infiniti sent out a curious ‘invitation’ over last night, informing the world that it indeed plans on pulling the wraps off a new car (or concept) at the end-of-year California event. And that’s pretty much it.
They’ve redefined the bare minimum of what constitutes sneak peek here, guys.
There’s literally nothing else about this that would indicate one way or the other about what this unveil would actually yield. Judging by these simple brush strokes, one can just about make up the silhouette of a sporty crossover, perhaps one with the kind of coupe-like roofline that would make this mystery car a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and BMW X4.
Oh, and we can just about confirm that it will be called the QX60 (or QX60 Concept) even though Infiniti has not actually attached a name to this unveil. Why? Well, because they named the full picture ‘QX60-Invite.jpg’. So, a crossover version of the Q60 coupe, albeit possibly with four doors instead of two.
We do expect quite a bit by way of visual similarities with their own QX50 Concept that was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in early 2017, naturally with the appropriate coupe touches applied where necessary.
And because it’s being touted to be their “most advanced Infiniti our history”, we suspect that it will preview the brand’s own flavour of the autonomous driving ProPilot suite developed by parent company Nissan. For good measure, the powertrain could likely be either a hybrid or one that’s fully electric.
We’ll just have to wait until November 28th when the wraps really are pulled at the Infiniti event at the Jet Centre of the Hawthorne Municipal Airport, coinciding with the Los Angeles Motor Show held at the L.A Convention Centre.
