Nissan’s prestige brand Infiniti is set for spectacular re-launch in Australia next month and the local lineup and prices have now been confirmed.
Two models will be available at launch – the FX performance crossover and M sedan. The Infiniti G coupe and convertible will follow in December and further models are slated for introduction next year.
Leading the charge is the acclaimed FX.
The superbly styled performance crossover comes standard with items like 20-inch alloy wheels, a 30GB HDD navigation system, 11-speaker Bose audio, Xenon headlights and a rear-view camera. Infiniti FX S and S Premium models add items like lane departure warning, active damper control, rear active steer, around-view monitor and a forward collision warning system.
The Infiniti FX engine lineup is impressive - a 287kW/500Nm 5.0-litre V8 petrol, 175kW/550Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel and a 235kW/360Nm 3.7-litre V6 petrol. All drive via a seven-speed automatic transmission with sporty downshift throttle blipping.
The Infiniti M sedan range includes two V6 powerplants (petrol and diesel) and a V6 petrol hybrid. The Infiniti M promises to be an enthusiasts luxury sedan – drive is to the rear wheels and the engine is mounted towards the rear of the front-end for optimized chassis balance.
Included in the Infiniti M’s comprehensive technology are items like blind spot warning, distance control alert and a Bose Studio Surround audio system with the same AutoPilot 2 noise compensation technology used in Bose’s noise-cancelling headphones.
The Infiniti M engines look like this – a 235kW/360Nm 3.7-litre V6 petrol, 175kW/550Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel and the 268kW350Nm+270Nm 3.5-litre V6 petrol-hybrid. Like the Infiniti FX, all drive through a seven-speed automatic transmission with downshift throttle blipping and the M35h hybrid delivers fuel consumption of 6.9l/100lms yet still accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

“Our target has been to offer Australian luxury car customers exciting vehicles and personalized service that matches their needs and desires,” revealed Infiniti Australia boss Kevin Snell. “Luxury car buyers expect value so my team and I listened carefully before finalizing Infiniti’s Australian prices and equipment packages. We have sought to make the equipment and prices for each of our cars transparent and simple to understand so our customers will enjoy a better purchase and ownership experience with us.”
