Hyundai has partnered with Bisimoto Engineering to develop a Hyundai Tucson that produces over 500kW.
The beast of an SUV will be on display at the 2015 SEMA show on the 3rd November, in Las Vegas.
Bisimoto started with Hyundai’s 2.4-litre “Theta-II” power plant before strengthening the internals with fast-burning flex-fuel, a high-boost turbocharger and an upgraded engine management system to put down 521kW to the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
“The Tucson was the perfect platform for this year’s build, offering me the opportunity to captivate a wider audience by tapping into the growing popularity of the SUV market,” said Bisi Ezerioha, owner and chief engineer, Bisimoto Engineering. “After hundreds of hours of testing and developing new engine components, we’re confident that this power plant can handle what we’re asking from it, delivering a fresh, race-bred take on the Tucson with performance and reliability at its core.”
For the exterior Bisimoto added a “street fighter” look, riding on custom air-ride suspension, white five-star race-spec wheels and sticky, R-compound rubber. They also dumped the front grille, instead replacing it with large intercooler to cool the incoming air.
Interior upgrades look to be a little thin on the ground but they have added a custom roll cage to which gives a hint to the performance hidden underneath.
