Korean giant Hyundai has entered the hybrid segment, revealing a concept ix35 Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show.
The hybrid version of the ix35 compact SUV looked ready for production so don’t be surprised if this newcomer is confirmed for 2011.
Featuring Hyundai’s new ‘Blue Drive’ technology, the ix35 Hybrid is powered by the company’s 85kW U2 1.7-litre diesel engine, supplemented by a 5kW electric motor. The engine boasts a variable geometry turbocharger, reduced friction internals and Hyundai’s Idle Stop & Go (‘Blue Drive’ initiatives).
Exhaust emissions are rated at just 117g/km.
Other fuel-saving technology includes low rolling resistance tyres and a full underbody cover for enhanced aerodynamics.
Drive is a via a six-speed manual transmission.
