Surfing a wave of popularity, Hyundai has boosted itsix35 compact SUV lineup with the addition of a range-topping 2.4-litre petrol Highlander all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant. The newcomer is priced at $35,490.
Hyundai ix35 is Australia third best-selling compact SUV. Highlander models account for around 50 per cent of those sales and until now, ix35 Highlander AWD was only available with the R-Series turbo-diesel powerplant.
Hyundai’s 2.4-litre petrol engine comes from its Theta II family and delivers 130kW of power at 6,000rpm and peak torque of 227Nm at 4,000rpm, while returning combined cycle fuel consumption of just 9.2l/100kms and C02 emissions as low as 219g/km.
On top of the comprehensive standard ix35 features, amongst the extras included in the Highlander grade are a rearview camera, panorama glass sunroof, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and electric front seat adjustment.
