Hyundai Australia have issued a voluntary recall for 32,525 Hyundai ix35 vehicles manufactured between 1st January 2011 and 27th December 2013.
The recall is for the same issue that is affecting the Hyundai Tucson in America, the fault is a possible incorrect tightening of the airbag bolts.
Hyundai Australia have stated if the bolts have been incorrectly tightened this could lead to misalignment of the airbag module, which in turn could affect the deployment of the airbag. Hyundai have also said that the horn could also be affected.
In both Australia and America there has been no accidents caused by this fault, however Hyundai Australia is recalling the vehicles as a precaution.
Customers who have a Hyundai ix35 built between 1st January 2011 and 27th December 2013, will be contacted in the coming days and asked to have their cars checked free of charge at their local Hyundai dealer and the bolts re tightened if necessary. The procedure will take a few minutes.
