Makes anything else look like a David in comparison.
Thanks mostly to Mercedes-AMG’s G63 6x6, tri-axle performance trucks are becoming more desirable, specifically for people who have more money than sense, don’t a rats rear about practicality, and have the mental age of a 7-year old boy. American performance brand Hennessey’s been down this path before with the Hennessy VelociRaptor 6x6, and thanks to the roaring success of that, they’ve now taken a Chevrolet Silverado and absolutely gone to town with it, resulting in the Hennessey Goliath 6x6.
As the name suggests, there are six wheels, with two axles in the back and one in the front. The donor car is a MY2019 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss, the most off-road capable model in the range. To that, Hennessey then first applied an 8-inch lift kit and fitted 20-inch alloys wrapped in 37-inch off-road tyres, put new bumpers on either end, and fitted a bed-mounted roll-bar that features an LED light bar above.
Being a performance brand, Hennessey did not leave the Silverado’s 6.2-litre V8 untouched. No, they strapped an enormous supercharger to the top and a stainless-steel quad-exhaust system underneath, to produce a monstrous 525kW and 915Nm, allowing the big 6x6 to hit 100km/h in less than 5-seconds. The 6.2-litre mill is actually bought separately, as the Silverado Trail Boss doesn’t get that engine (the biggest for the variant is 5.3-litres), so there’s a swap involved in the process.
It’s a pretty ridiculous machine, and that’s reflected in the price: At US$375,000 (or about $516k), the Hennessy Goliath 6x6 is definitely a flight of fancy. But if you have more money and less sense, worry not: Hennessey can upgrade your Goliath to put out 602kW instead, and fit a Brembo braking system, or a custom interior. Just 24 will be made, and all of them will probably be left-hand drive, so keep drooling.
