Volvo will unveil its all-new V40 premium hatchback at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
Volvo says the V40 is the first vehicle fully developed by its ‘Designed Around You’ philosophy which has received input from Volvo customers around the world.
Power will come from the turbocharged T5 petrol engine and a new diesel with exhaust C02 emissions of just 94g/km. Both manual and automatic versions will feature auto start/stop and brake energy regeneration.
Volvo V40 also takes pedestrian safety to the next level, debuting the world’s first pedestrian airbag. Other new Volvo tehcnologies include Park Assist Pilot self-parking, Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake and Lane Keeping aid with haptic auto steering.
“The all-new V40 is the most intelligent and safe Volvo so far. All its features are designed around the driver, helping him or her stay alert and well informed to avoid collisions and dangerous situations. With this class-leading safety package, including enhanced focus on pedestrian protection, the all-new V40 aims for a full star rating in the new, sharpened 2012 EuroNCAP safety tests,” revealed Volvo’s V40 line director Hakan Abrahamsson.
