Genesis – Hyundai’s stand-alone premium brand has unveiled the all-new G90 full-size luxury sedan.
The G90 is destined for major Northern hemisphere markets in the immediate future so buyers in Australasia will have to wait.
We do like the looks – the claims of Genesis for ‘Athletic Elegance’ would seem to be appropriate.
Propulsion will come from via an all-new 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 offering 272kW/510Nm or the ‘Tau’ 5.0-litre V8 which is good for 314kW/519Nm – both driving via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Underneath is some impressive technology including the first appearance of Genesis’ adaptive suspension and H-TRAC all-wheel-drive.
So we’re promised sharp driving dynamics which have been honed not only at the usual location (Nurburgring, Germany) but also in California’s Mojave Desert.
As you would expect the rest of the technology story isn’t lacking with adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot detection and lane keeping assist all on the list.
Interior styling is from the top shelf with extra leg-room, plenty of Nappa leather and timber plus the usual avalanche of screens headlined by a massive 12.3-inch HD version atop the centre stack.
Outboard rear seats have eight-way power adjustment and on V8 models heating and cooling functions.
