Ford had previously teased a modified Mustang GT, kitted out in various nods to the British Royal Air Force to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to mark the RAF’s 100th anniversary and named after the American Air Force pilots stationed in England during the Second World War. Not many details accompanied that sole teaser, but we did know that prolific pony tuners RTR were involved, so power would see a significant hike.

Here we are now, and welcome to the 522kW Eagle Squadron Mustang GT, a one-off machine that, soon after its likely sideways and quite smokey performance at Goodwood at the hands of pro drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr, will be headed to the auction block at ‘The Gather, an where its proceeds will be channelled to benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth aviation education programs.

Fittingly, the Eagle Squadron Mustang GT wears a military inspired camo exterior treatment with period-appropriate markings and even some funky yellow wing mirrors. For good effect, a wide body kit has also been installed for more purchase on the road, but wholly impractical for narrow British roads.

RTR basically applied their usual schtick when it came to elevating the Eagle Squadron above the standard Mustang GT. However, aside from the aesthetic enhancements, the car’s 5.0-litre Coyote V8 has been fitted with a Ford Performance supercharger kit co-developed with Roush.

This 12psi boost in air pressure results in 522kW and 827Nm of peak power and torque. From there, drive reaches the rear axle via a Tremec 6-speed transmission where it will be planted into the ground by 305 section Nitto NT555 tyres wrapped around 20-inch RTR Aero 7 two-piece forged wheels. Its front tyres, meanwhile, are a little narrower at 285mm.

For extra bite while on the road, RTR have also equipped the Eagle Squadron Mustang GT with its quite aptly named Tactical Performance Suspension Package with in-car adjustable MagneRide dampers, Ford Performance lowering springs and RTR adjustable sway bars to increase cornering grip and lateral acceleration.

Inside, a custom leather interior features Recaro racing seats with embroidered Eagle Squadron logo. A hand-engraved shift knob made from metal melted down from an F-35 Lightning carries over the Eagle Squadron logo, and a one-of-one hand-engraved badge made from genuine Spitfire aluminium adorns the dashboard.
