The VUHL 05 was revealed overnight at the Royal Automobile Club in London. It’s a made-to-order two-seat sports car designed to tackle burgeoning demand for road/track cars like the KTM X-Bow, Ariel Atom and BAC Mono.
Designed by Mexican brothers Guillermo and Iker Echeverria, the VUHL 05 is powered by a 210kW/420Nm version of Ford’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Eco Boost engine driving the rear wheels a six-speed manual transmission.
Tipping the scales at only 725kgs, the VUHL 05’s impressive power-to-weight ratio means zero to 100km/h in the Supercar time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 245km/h.
The chassis uses the usual three-section bonded tub from aluminium honeycomb with a chrome-moly steel subframe housing the engine and rear suspension. Buyers can choose either RTM reinforced plastic or carbon fibre for the body.
Wheels are OZ Racing, 17-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear with Michelin tyres.
Aerodynamic kit includes a flat underfloor, front and lateral splitters, rear diffuser and rear spoiler.
The interior is pure race car with carbon bucket seats, a 330mm quick-release steering wheel, data download dashboard and water-resistant Dinamica sude trim.
The Mexican brothers are taking orders for the VUHL 05 now and prices start at £55,000 (about $90,000). Dealers have been appointed in North American and Europe but plans call for expansion into Asian markets including China.
The track day amateur race scene is in its infancy in Australia compared to Europe and North America (Radical has an operation based at Sydney Motorsport Park). But you can check-out more on the VUHL 05 at www.VUHLO5.com
