Ford’s 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is now available in Mondeo Zetec and Titanium hatchback models.

Carrying a price premium of $1050 for Titanium and $1500 for Zetec, the EcoBoost engine returns fuel economy of 8.0l/100kms and provides increased performance over the outgoing 2.3-litre Duratec (149kW/300Nm for the EcoBost versus 118kW/208Nm for the Duratec).

Arrival of the highly-acclaimed EcoBoost engine has seen Ford adjust the Mondeo model range. Entry level LX models retain the 2.3-litre Duratec powerplant (or optional 2.0-litre diesel) however the Zetec grade wagon now joins the range-topping Titanium model in being exclusively diesel-powered.

“We believe that these EcoBoost engines will provide customers with a genuinely attractive alternative to diesel or hybrid power units, delivering highly competitive fuel economy and cost-of-ownership, along with the responsive performance and wide rev range that have made petrol engines the favoured choice for so many drivers,” revealed Bob Graziano, Ford Australia’s CEO.
