Ford Australia’s compact SUV picture has clarified with confirmation its excellent European-sourced Kuga will be launched in the first quarter of next year. Exactly where this leaves the all-new Ford Escape, which debuted a few weeks back at the Los Angeles Auto Show, remains unclear.
In the meantime, Ford will launch the Kuga in its now familiar model grades – ‘Trend’ and ‘Titanium’ – although the company will not be revealing prices until closer to launch.
A good-looker, the rang-topping Kuga ‘Titanium’ adds 18-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats and a panoramic glass roof amongst its extras over the ‘Trend’ model.
Power comes from Ford’s 147kW/320Nm Duratec five-cylinder petrol engine driving all four wheels via Ford’s five-speed automatic transmission.
Underneath, Ford Kuga runs MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear.
On the inside, Ford Kuga has more than a passing resemblance to other Ford Europe products Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta.
“The Ford Kuga will be an exciting addition to our Australian model range. It is certain to appeal to customers looking for a stylish, practical and fun compact SUV,” explained Ford Australia chief Bob Graziano.
