Today, Ford Australia has announced a recall of the Mondeo, stating concerns that the adaptive LED headlight units may switch off without warning. The recall affects vehicles built between 2014 and 2015, and only affects units fitted with the adaptive LED headlights. Ford says it affects 579 vehicles.
Ford’s report details that the issue stems from a software error within the headlight control module (HCM) that is causing the headlights to fail. If the fault occurs, the vehicle would require to be switched off and on again.
The company advises that if the headlights switch off abruptly, drivers should safely navigate their way to a safe stopping point, where they can switch their vehicles off and on again. This should temporarily rectify the problem, and allow drivers to continue their journey.
Ford Australia will get in touch with relevant owners by mail. It is advised that owners get in touch with their local Ford dealer for rectification purposes. For more information regarding the recall, contact the Ford customer care line at 1-800-503-672.
