Traditionally Mercedes-Benz uses its ‘home’ show – the Frankfurt Motor Show – for an unrivalled display of its global strength contained in its own multi-story building – and this year Benz’ is bigger than ever.
No less than five world premieres are on the agenda for Mercedes-Benz, highlighted by the F 125! Research Vehicle. The German giant says this vehicle will demonstrate how, in the future, zero-emissions individual mobility for the luxury segment can be achieved.
Back in the present, Mercedes will unveil the nicely–styled, all-new B-Class compact - including a model with an alternative drive. Mainstream versions of the all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class – the second generation – gain a new turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine and enhanced interior luxury to accompany the all-new look.
Then there is the new M-Class – yet again a masterpiece SUV. ‘Benz says fuel consumption across the new M-Class range beats the current model by a staggering 25 per cent. The ML250 BlueTEC 4MATIC has fuel consumption of just 6.0l/100kms and a range of 1500kms on a single tank of fuel.
Sure to attract a crowd is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. The open-top version of the magnificent SLS gets the full AMG treatment including the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine with 420kW/620Nm, driving through a transaxle with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Not to be outdone, the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG is the most powerful SLK ever with 310kW/540Nm from its 5.5-litre V8. Despite the under-bonnet urge, fuel consumption is 30 per cent lower than the previous AMG SLK.
Coupes also rate highly with the debut of the all-new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series, based on the stylish new C-Class Coupe just launched in Australia. Under the bonnet is AMG’s 6.3-litre V8 which, with 380kW/620Nm, makes this the most powerful C-Class ever and delivers zero to 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds.
