Not a lot of ‘down time’ in the engine department at Volkswagen’s head office in Wolfsburg, Germany with news of an upgrade for the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel used in the various Passat models.
As well as extra grunt (power up by 5.0kW to 130kW and torque up by 30Nm to 380Nm), fuel consumption is down slightly to 5.6l/100kms (Sedan) and 5.4l/100kms (Wagon and CC).
Other brands would simply delay releasing the upgraded engines until a full model upgrade, but the pace of change at Volkswagen is simply staggering.
Prices are:
Passat 130TDI Highline Sedan $44,490
Passat 130TDI Highline Wagon $46,490
Passat Alltrack $47,490
CC 130TDI $55,490
