Mitsubishi is a major player in Europe, so the Geneva Motor Show ranks alongside Tokyo in importance so it was no surprise two very interesting concept cars appeared in Switzerland.
First-up there’s the handsomely-styled GR-HEV, an all-wheel-drive diesel-hybrid ute.
Power comes from Mitsubishi’s new 2.5-litre clean diesel and the HEV electric motor system. Mitsubishi says the GR-HEV is good for exhaust C02 emissions below 149g/km – vital for upcoming legislation in Europe.
Underneath are the next-generation ‘Super Select 4WD’ and S-AWC. While not diminishing off-road agility, the engineering focus has been on reduced fuel consumption/emissions with the driver able to select the most fuel-efficient mode.
Mitsubishi’s other Geneva concept – the CA-MiEV points, as the name suggests, to the company’s next-generation compact electric car.
Apart from the much-improved looks, the CA-MiEV debuts wireless battery re-charging and a longer range between re-charges – up to 300kms.
